Cor Sol Orbis was the descendant of Pluvia Sol Orbis and the first Exarch of the second Sol Orbis dynasty. Cor is described as being warm and compassionate, showing resolute mercy even in the heat of battle. He and Rex Sol Orbis would return to Caelum’s Landing in 196 PO to lay claim to the exarchy. The splintered Church of Caelum would split into two factions, each supporting an heir, beginning the War of Accession. Seven years later, Cor defeated Rex at the Battle of Fountainhead Falls and chose to spare his life. The newly crowned Exarch would go on to declare his cousin Grand Paladin.
In 204 PO, Cor would to send aid to Madanau after its perilous arrival on Fio. When he was met with adversity, Rex advised annexing the territory to further his expansionist goals. Fortunately, Cor declined, and instead sought the help of Lydia Iremia, a healer from Montanum. Together, the pair convinced Madanau’s proud denizens to accept Church aid via construction of an embassy.
Cor’s failing health over a decade would lead to his death in 213 PO. In that time, Lydia served as the Exarch’s nurse and the pair fell in love. A marriage ceremony was held in Cor’s bedchamber just before his death. It was the Exarch’s hope that Lydia might better influence Rex from a position of legal power, once he was anointed the new Exarch.
